This week on 'The Hal Lindsey Report'
On this week's edition of "The Hal Lindsey Report": We are witnessing dramatic movement of the prophetic scenario into an alignment predicted by the ancient prophets for the last days. I say "dramatic" because it involves a virtual turnabout in national policy by a longstanding, dependable member of the 'Western' community.
Turkey, long an unusual example of modernity in an Islamic state, long a supporter of Western values and culture, and even a member of NATO for almost 60 years, has launched a sudden and inexplicable reversal of its foreign policy. For the last decade and a half, Turkey has been Israel's first and only Muslim ally. And a legal one at that since the two nations signed a mutual defense cooperation treaty in 1996.
However, under the leadership of the Islamic 'Justice and Development Party,' headed by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey is actively and aggressively pushing Israel away. It is attempting to humiliate its ally on the world stage by its devious sponsorship of the Gaza Blockade-busting flotilla that brought international condemnation down on Israel. Turkey is also leading the fight to expose Israel's nuclear capabilities and has publicly sought to strengthen and exploit its relationships with Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Hezbollah, and Hamas.
Despite the objections of the Turkish military, which, to now, has been the guarantor of Turkey's secular government, the Islamic elements in Turkey's leadership are driving Israel into a relationship with its own long-time enemy: Greece. Just as the prophets predicted.
There are several interesting parallels between the Great Depression of the '30s and the great recession of the past couple of years. Misplaced optimism is one. The critical involvement of the Federal Reserve is another. And last, but certainly not least, are the great opportunities for expansion of the federal government presented by both.
In a speech last week, President Obama criticized Arizona's new state law seeking to stem illegal immigration as "unenforceable." (Since we taped this week's program, the U.S. Justice Department has decided to file a lawsuit to stop the enactment of that law.) My take on the charge that it's "unenforceable" is that it is only so because the President chooses NOT to enforce similar federal laws that have existed for a hundred years. So, I suppose that, technically, the President is not lying. Sorry, Joe Wilson.
The only word that adequately describes that speech is "demagoguery." You can either grab your dictionary or catch this week's show for a complete definition. You'll see what I mean.
And when you do, you'll understand the significance of our last story this week. For decades now, the 'progressives' (liberals or 'The Left') in our country have been propelled by two powerful influences: Saul Alinsky and Cloward and Piven. (Of course, Marx and Engels figure in, too, but why state the obvious?) In 1966, Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven authored an article in "The Nation" magazine that has been followed as closely as a blueprint by organizations such as ACORN and, dare I say, the Democrat Party (at least the present-day incarnation of the Democrat Party). Incredibly, we are seeing the fruits of that seditious strategy in the news everyday. And I say 'seditious' advisedly, because the end result will be the capitulation of our national sovereignty and way of life to those who seek to control us and rule over us.
You know, just yesterday a friend sent me an arresting political cartoon. I call it a political cartoon because I honestly don't know how else to describe it. It was powerful almost beyond words. It was simply a traditional poster of Uncle Sam, but he wore a stern look on his face. He was pointing his finger directly at me in a no-nonsense, almost angry manner. The caption shouted: "Pay Attention!"
Folks, there has never been a time in our history when it has been so important that we PAY ATTENTION to what is going on in our government, in our institutions, in our media, in our churches, and in our own homes. As this Age winds down, the threats and dangers are piling up ever more rapidly and always more ominously. Only by staying engaged, staying active, and staying on our knees before God, can we hope to stem the tide that is engulfing our beloved America.
But in the face of this onslaught, always remember to look up and take hope! Our Redemption draws near!
